Different Breeds and Types of Chickens

The standard chicken is where you will find your everyday type of chicken, and the bantam group is where you will find the special breeds. The bantam chickens are also a lot smaller in size than the standard ones, and their eggs are a lot smaller too. The different breeds of chickens in the standard group are the Araucanas, La Fleche, the Jersey Giants, Isa Browns, Easter Eggers and Easter Eggers 2, Delawares, Cubalaya, Chanteclers, Buff Orpingtons, Barred Rock, and many others. In the bantam chicken group the breeds include the following: the Frizzles, D’anvers, Nankings, Silkies, Sebrights, Sultans and many others.

If you are looking to start breeding chickens, you will know where the chickens you want to breed come from, not to mention, which breed of chickens you want to work with. It is important to take note of where your choice of chicken comes from, because that specific breed of chicken might be used to living in hot weather, and may not do too well if you life in an area where there is a lot of rain. Many people disregard this very important fact, and this is the reason they do not succeed in raising chickens. If you think of chickens like plants, where you would not plant a banana tree in Alaska, you will better understand how and why certain chicken breeds flourish in certain areas. So, know your breed of chickens and stick to that specific breed if you want your business to grow and prosper.
